about the studio
The Richardson Guitar Studio welcomes students of all ages and skill levels. Our goal is to help you enjoy music! Our teachers specialize in a wide range of styles, including classical, jazz, gypsy jazz, modern rock, classic rock, blues, funk, country, bluegrass, and flamenco. Studio Director Peter Richardson has been teaching guitar and bass in Charlottesville since 1999. He personally matches each prospective student with a teacher whose skills and style complement the student’s goals. RGS strongly supports students who are interested in sharing their music with the public. We host regular recitals with a live, professional backup band, so our students can enjoy a high-quality presentation and improve their performance skills. All of our teachers are experienced performers who appear regularly at local venues. To benefit our students, we have partnered with Charlottesville Music to bring our students high-quality instruments, gear and accessories at fantastic prices. Charlottesville Music has offered "big city discounts with small town service" since 1983, and they offer a 10% discount on most items to our students. Our regular office hours are from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and you can also leave us a message anytime. We can get you started right away or set up a consultation meeting to help you figure out which lesson or class option fits you best. To help us match you with a teacher, please let us know the student's age and music experience, the instrument and style of music you want to study, and the days and times when you're available. Lessons and classes are normally scheduled between 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. on weekdays and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays. Other times may be available upon request. The studio is closed on Sundays. |
