weekly lessons
It takes time and practice to learn to play an instrument well. Without a doubt, the most effective way to learn is to take regular lessons over a period of months or years. Our weekly lesson program saves you time and money with convenient monthly billing. How does it work? Most music teaching studios charge pro-rated fees each month based on the number of scheduled weekly lessons, but we bill at a fixed monthly rate so you always know what to expect. The monthly fee is based on a 50-week teaching year, with two weeks off for our winter holiday break. On the first day of each month, our automatic payment system charges the upcoming month's lessons to a credit or debit card. Automatic billing saves you time... and since it saves us time as well, we're able to offer the weekly lesson program at a savings of $100-$200 per year! To take advantage of our weekly lesson prices, a 4-month initial commitment to lessons is required: no cancellation before the first 4 months have passed. After that, we ask for one month's notice to discontinue lessons. If you're not ready to commit for 4 months, a short session is the perfect way to start; you can switch to the weekly program anytime. And if you'd rather pay by cash or check, no problem! In order to offer our lowest prices, we'll ask you to pay for 4 months at a time. Decide on the lesson length that's right for you. We recommend 30-minute lessons for beginners, especially younger students, so that it's easy to stay focused and avoid fatigue. For students who plan to practice regularly and want to make faster progress, 45-minute lessons allow more time to get feedback on the previous week's assignments as well as learn new material. With 60-minute lessons, students have plenty of time to practice technique with the instructor's supervision. Monthly rates for lessons with a senior instructor:  Beginning guitar students may choose lessons with a junior instructor (subject to instructor's availability). Monthly rates:  Membership is required - just $20 a year. Your annual membership fee gives you access to some great benefits. You'll be eligible to participate in our regular recitals and register for music classes at the studio. You'll get a 10% discount on most items at Charlottesville Music. We'll get your practice routine started off right with a personalized music assignment folder, and you'll also receive a sampler CD of recordings by our instructors.
